Mission
“The Downtown Business Association of New Castle is a collection of stakeholders who actively collaborate to create a vibrant and thriving community in our urban core.”
Vision
“The association serves as a networking opportunity, source of education, united voice for advocacy, and shared marketing. It engages in activities which promote a healthy retail and service climate, as well as, a downtown that is clean, green, and safe.”
Activities
- Welcome new businesses to the Downtown
- Host monthly DBA meetings at downtown businesses
- Promote a culture of fun and collaboration among business owners
- Host ‘Meet and Greet’ events
- Facilitate focused group discussions by industry or topic to assess situations, determine needs and assets, and consider solutions
- Coordinate group marketing efforts (area maps, itineraries, promotions, etc.)
- Business Spotlights
- Spotlight speaking opportunities at monthly meetings
- Social promotion videos with THE Breaking News and The DBA
- Work closely with Duquesne Small Business Development Center (SBDC)
- Assist with increasing awareness and use of the SBDC services and resources
- Facilitate the 'How to do Business in New Castle' reference guide
- Maintain amicable, working relationships with elected officials
- Represent, advocate, and negotiate on behalf of the association and its interests
- Invite speakers from other downtowns who are thriving (for example: Youngstown, Ohio)
- Support beautification efforts downtown (e.g., light pole banners, flowers, place-making initiatives, etc.)
Meetings
The New Castle DBA meetings take place monthly on the second Tuesday of each month. Check the Chamber's Calendar of Events for upcoming meetings and events.
