Quality health care is at the ready in Lawrence County. In 2014, Jameson Hospital announced a merger with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). The Jameson Health System has over 1300 employees and 250 physicians. UPMC will provide $15 million in improvement at Jameson over the next two years, a small part of the 10-year commitment to aid in physician recruitment and overall capital improvements. Two locations – UPMC Horizon and UPMC/Jameson Cancer Center currently call the county seat home.
Also in New Castle is the VA Butler’s Lawrence County Outpatient Clinic offering primary care to veterans, routine laboratory and outpatient behavioral health services. While smaller in size, The Ellwood City Hospital houses an intensive/coronary care facility and offers cardiology and radiology services, just to name a few. Primary Health Care provides a variety of services to lower income individuals.
